Josephin Poweleit
I was born in Berlin and still live here today.
When someone asks me what I actually do, the answer isn't so easy. Because I haven't found one art form to which I dedicate my life. Instead, several creative paths have developed over the years that accompany me to this day.
There are my beachcombing paintings, created from the things the sea leaves behind. There's my jewelry made from tree beads, wood, and other natural materials. And then there's drawing – something that's been with me for as long as I can remember.
For a long time I thought I would have to make a decision at some point. Today I know that this very diversity is part of who I am.
Sometimes I spend days with tree pearls and their fascinating textures. Other times, I'm drawn to my drawing board. And right now, I especially love creating new pictures from found objects on the beach. I don't work according to a plan or fixed guidelines. I work on whatever inspires me at the moment.
What unites all my work is my joy of discovery. I see things that cannot be overlooked: a piece of wood, a tree pearl, a found object shaped by the sea. I am not interested in perfection, but in the unique qualities that are already there.
Therefore, no two works are alike.
And that's exactly what I love.
